Explore Alderley Edge

While it may revel in its reputation as the Champagne capital of Britain, Alderley Edge enjoys a charming village atmosphere. Between the fashionable restaurants and bars, you will find traditional bakers, butchers, a specialist cheese shop and the monthly Farmers' Market in the Festival Hall. But where else except Alderley Edge would you find a shop selling chocolates sprinkled with gold leaf?!

The Alderley Bar and Grill, Brisingamens, No. 15 Wine Bar, the Bubble Room, The Alderley Edge Hotel and the Wizard Restaurant are among the Northwest's most fashionable venues.

A sudden, steep climb from the village centre brings you to stunning National Trust woodland and the dramatic sandstone escarpment riddled with caves, and with spectacular views acrss Cheshire. Derbyshire Caving Club organise occasional open days into the caves, and this scenery is the setting for Alan Garner's novel TheWeirdstone of Brisingamen. King Arthur and his men are said to sleep somewhere beneath the sandstone cliffs and there is a carving of a bearded face above a well next to which the words "Drink of this and take thy fill, For the water falls by the wizard's will" are carved.
